Butterfly Effect 3 : Revelation – What an effect!!

Since, the day I saw the first installment of the Butterfly effect sequels I was quite impressed and I was introduced to this interesting concept of Butterfly Effect. Mathematics being my favourite subject, I knew what the concept was but didn’t knew the name which was given to it. So, thanks to the movie for this wonderful introduction.

The butterfly effect is a phrase that encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory.

Recently, I saw the third installment named, Butterfly Effect 3 : Revelation. The movie as the name suggests is based on the same theory but adding some sci-fi & thriller tang to the movie.

Butterfly Effect 3 : Revelation

Director Seth Grossman has used the concept around a guy, named Sam Reide (Chris Carmack), who can jump in time (the Sci-fi part) but in doing so he warps the future in such a drastic way that, the feeling is just like waking up in a new world in the morning and realising that by his jump he has created an unwanted evil i.e. a serial killer (the thriller part). But each jump he takes his mind scrambles more and it seems as if paranoia is slowly taking over.

The film has been released in USA on 9 January 2009 (after the Dark Horrorfest) & Germany on 7 February 2009 (European Film Market) and will be released in USA on 31 March 2009 (DVD premiere) and Brazil on 29 May 2009.

Well! this concept started me thinking as to what will happen if, we were able to change past what the effect would be on our lives in the present. Suppose if we were able to avoid World War I & II by altering the past then “what the present will look like?”, “Will world be a better place or worst?”. You never know the answer because if the theory of equilibrium and human nature of  keep changing with time, is to be taken into account I don’t think there can ever be complete peace on earth, we can try and are still trying but the GOOD and BAD will always maintain the equilibrium in this universe as denoted by the Chinese symbol of Ying and Yang.

Ying & Yang

Sorry, about me getting too philosophical but I just wanted to prove that sometimes I can think too. :D :P
