3G in India!
Few months back, 11 December 2008 to be exact, the most awaited 3G service was announced in India by MTNL under its post paid mobile service named Dolphin. Initially it was only for corporate usage and for individual usage its been launched few weeks back. Right now the service is only available in Delhi and that too in NDMC areas, work in rest of Delhi and NCR region is still in progress.
With this service MTNL boasts of offering few data related services as well:
- Video Telephony.
- High Speed Internet.
- A multitude of Data related VAS services.
- Mobile TV.
- Remote Video Monitoring.
- Video on Demand.

Formalities:
Fill up and submit the form along with ID and Address proof at MTNL’s Sanchar Haat at Eastern Court, Delhi and CGO complex, Delhi (for both new and existing customers). You will be provided with a new SIM called USIM, maybe its called UMTS SIM.
Tariffs:
- Activation charge: Rs. 500 + Service Tax
- Fixed Charges : Rs. 599/month
- Voice call to own network : Rs. 0.60/min
- Calls to other network : Rs. 1.00/min
- Video call own network : Rs. 1.80/min
- STD/ISD : As per Budget plan
- STD video call : Rs. 3.75/min
- ISD video call : Rs. 30/min
- Local/STD/ISD SMS : As per Budget plan
- Data @ GPRS/3G/UMTS/HSDPA usage rate : Rs. 5/MB
- MMS : Rs. 3/-
- HSDPA card (Optional)* : Rs. 5000/-

Way to go MTNL!! but just remember that you got lots of new and high tech services to offer but all you gotta work on is your customer service coz
